Dr. Brandon Marshall is a Professor of Epidemiology at the Brown University School of Public Health, and a recognized researcher placing specific emphasis on harm reduction interventions and overdose prevention. Dr. Marshall and his team evaluate programs and policies that aim to improve the health and well-being of people who use drugs.

Dr. Marshall reviews current research and discusses the promise of OPCs in the USA.

Burlington Ward 6 organizes a rain garden tour for June 29, 3-6pm. This is to raise awareness of both city and private stormwater mitigation installations and city programs to help homeowners.  

Tour features the following locations:

• 70 South Street, Burlington (near Rice HS). A residential rain garden along driveway and street neck-down with stormwater catchment. Owned by Chelsey Tedder. Hosted by Ted Cavey.
   
• 369 South Union Street, Burlington. A residential backyard application with pervious pavement, piped gutters to the rain garden, and 2 adopt-a-drains examples on the street. Certified by Blue BTV Stormwater program. Owned by Megan and Greg Epler Wood. Hosted by Megan Epler Wood.
   
• Perry Hall, 251 South Willard Street, Champlain College, Burlington. A good sized institutional retention pond and gardens with interpretative signs. Hosted by Nancy Harkins.

• Edmunds Elementary School, 299 Main Street, Burlington. Rock-lined swale to mitigate flow from underground spring, partially built by the Elementary students. Owned by the City of Burlington. Hosted by Diane Gayer with Bob Leidy.

From the City of South Burlington:

VSARN's book project introduces Vermont children to books about diversity, equity, and inclusion - with fun activities, discussions, and mentorship from high school students included as part of the read aloud. This summer, we will be touring libraries to read banned books for youth of all ages, from toddler to middle school.

VSARN is a nonprofit that is founded and run by students in high school and college. We work to achieve education without racism through education about racism. More specifically, we spend our time creating education policy that supports students, developing anti-racist schools and communities, and building support systems for our youth.
